General Raymond Gilbert "Ray" Davis
General Raymond Gilbert "Ray" Davis, USMC (January 13, 1915-September 3, 2003). General Davis is one of the most highly decorated Marines in the history of the Marine Corps. His awards include the Medal Of Honor, Navy Cross, Silver Star (2), Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia and grew up in Atlanta, graduated from Tech High School and Georgia Tech. Upon graduation from Georgia Tech (1938), he was appointed a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. He served our country in combat during World War II, Korean War and Vietnam. He attained the rank of General and retired (1972) as the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps. General Davis was a great Marine, a true family man and an great human being.
